The
following are some of the things I am interested and/or involved in.
Rospa
Advanced Drivers
Institute
of Advanced Motorists

'Advanced
driving' refers
to improving your driving skills beyond the standard DSA test to become a
more skilful and progressive driver. There are two major
organisations offering free help in preparing for an advanced driving
test, which leads to substantial insurance savings, in the UK. Rospa
Advanced Drivers is one of these bodies. Advanced driving is based
on the principles of car control used by police drivers and detailed in
the 'bible' of advanced driving, Roadcraft:
National
Blood Service
I've
been a blood donor since I was 19. It doesn't really hurt!

Oxford
Nightline
Oxford
Nightline is a student run listening, information and support service for
students in Oxford. Training in listening skills is run each term, and
there is more information on the site. I was a volunteer and also the male Coordinator of
the organisation during my second year in Oxford, and found the opportunity to
develop listening skills and to train other volunteers very
rewarding. Other universities
usually have Nightlines too - see National Nightline's
website. If you are thinking of becoming a Nightline volunteer, I would
recommend investigating what your Nightline's policy on dealing with
obscene and abusive callers is (see further details here).

Samaritans
Samaritans provide confidential listening and emotional support 24 hours a day
by telephone and by email.

Modern
capitalism, organising the reduction of all social life to a spectacle,
cannot offer any other spectacle than that of our own alienation. (Kotanyi
Vaneigem, International Socialism No. 6 (1961))
